Math Test Directions
The math portion of the exam uses two different question types. Before you begin your Diagnostic Test, make sure that you are familiar with both. One type (which sometimes uses graphs) is typical multiple-choice:
Example:
If x + 5 = 9, then 3x =
1
4
12
18
36
Since x = 4, 3x = 12. And the third choice is correct.
The other kind of math uses a special set of directions:
Directions: Each item consists of two quantities, one Column A and one in Column B. Compare the two quantities and choose:
if the quantity in column A is greater;
if the quantity in Column B is greater;
if the two quantities are equal;
if the relationship cannot be determined.
