Analytical Test

Directions for Analytical Test

The analytical reasoning portion of the exam uses two different question types.  Before you begin your Diagnostic Test, make sure that you are familiar with both.  One type is verbal reasoning or arguments:

Directions: Each passage in this part is followed by a question or questions based on its content. For each question you are to choose the best answer, that is, the one that answers the question most accurately and completely.

For some questions all of the answer choices may conceivably be answers to the question asked.  You should select the best answer to the question, that is, an answer that does not require you to make assumptions that violate commonsense standards by being implausible, redundant, irrelevant, or inconsistent.

The other kind of analytical question is called puzzles or games:

Directions: Each group of questions is based on a set of propositions or conditions. Drawing a rough picture or diagram may help in answering some of the questions. Choose the best answer for each question.

Before you start, make sure you have reviewed the general instructions on the preceding page about how to enter and confirm your answers. To begin the test, click on the start button.
